Letter, 1816 Jun. 5. Discusses the arrival of wines from France. The letter is mounted on a page with a note that the letter is to a Col. Simms in Alexandra, Va. -- Mounted on the reverse is the autograph signature of 1836 Oct. 29, by D. P. Madison, that serves as a franking from a letter. A note says the letter is addressed to J. M. (James Madison?). Above the franking is an engraving of Mrs. Madison (Otis del.; Goodman & Piggot sc.).
